Nominate a candidate by May 7th, 2025. The Nominating Committee of the Board of Directors of Friendship Force International (FFI) is seeking people to serve on its volunteer Board of Directors, beginning in January 2026, to fill our upcoming vacancies.
As an international organization, FFI is a worldwide movement of inspired people building bridges for a more friendly world. We seek board members who bring an understanding of geographic and cultural diversity as well as experience in governance and strategic planning for marketing, technology, and financial sustainability. The FFI Board of Directors is the governing body for Friendship Force International, Inc., a non-profit organization committed to peace and understanding through personal friendships across the barriers that separate people. Our activities include homestays in our members’ homes; creating joint projects at local, regional and global levels; promoting learning, training, and dialogue to enhance cultural understanding; and embracing diversity, ensuring everyone feels welcome, valued, and accepted. Currently, there are fifteen members of the Board, residing in nine countries and with living experience worldwide.

Time and Financial Considerations for Board Members

Board members are expected to attend board meetings and the meetings of committees to which they are assigned. The board will likely hold one in-person meeting per year, with travel costs paid by the organization.
- Terms are generally 4 years to help with the board succession planning, but 2- or 3-year terms can occur in special circumstances. Candidates are urged to consider ways to contribute to the organization as a personal priority for their term of service.
- FFI Board members serve without compensation.
- Should they wish to attend the FFI world conference, board members pay for hotel nights and transportation. The conference registration fee is paid for by FFI.
- All board members shall help support the organization financially at their personal discretion. Members help make contacts to raise funds to the best of their ability.
