Sightseeing Highlights

  • Visit the giant Olmec heads and the smaller "caritas sonrientes" (little smiling faces) from 1300 BC, among other artifacts at the Anthropology Museums.
  • Travel to the important archaeological site - Zempoala, the capital of the kingdom of Totonacapan.
  • Visit La Antigua - considered to be the first Spanish town in Mexico
  • Travel to Veracruz Port and tour the historical center, enjoy a seafood lunch, relax with a cup of coffee in the famous Café de la Parroquia.
  • Explore Chiapa de Corzo - founded in 1526, visit the largest public plaza in the country, the Pila fountain, and many artisan shops.
  • Take in the great diversity of plants and animal life at Canyon de Sumidero, an impressive gorge. This may involve a 2-hour boat ride.
  • Relax to the wonderful music at a Symphonic Orchestra concert.

Trip to and tour of the archaeological zone Cempoala or Zempoala.

Feb. 4 - Xalapa

Visit the mayor of Xalapa.

Feb. 5 - Xalapa

Concert by the University of Xalapa Orchestra.

Tour of Xalapa by tram and farewell party.
